Welcome to Entertainment

Well, today was a wonderful day. Simply wonderful. I boarded the Magic Kingdom bus to Disney University this morning at 7:09 am. Once at Disney U., I clocked in with my official WDW company card (yes, I love saying I have one of those), and then I walked into my class.

Awaiting me in that room was a small piece of paper. Little did I know that what was written on that piece of paper was going to make my day ten million times better.

Everyday I wake up feeling such an incredible gratefulness to God for all he's providing for me. But this isn't even the best part of the day yet.

Sitting at the table in front of me was a stunningly beautiful blonde woman, named Kelly. She was about 22 years old and had an adorable smile on her face. She introduced herself and she told us she was going to be our trainer for the day. She had the sweetest countenance and even though there were some problems and bumps along the way during our training today, she treated us with kindness and patience. After talking personally to her after the class I found out she has been working as a Full Time employee for four years. She told me that she still loves her job everyday and that even though there are hard days that all the moments you have with the guests and the magical moments you get to give to them makes the job so worth it. "I love being able to give my life away," Kelly told me.

I can't even begin to tell you how much I love it here. Everything about this experience has just been confirmation after confirmation that performing and Theatre is truly what I want to do. I can't wait to see what the rest of this journey has in store for me and like Kelly I want to be able to give my life away. However, not just to make the guests happy, but to use my gifts to give glory to God. I can't wait to share those stories with you. Oh, and I saw Dream Along with Mickey (the show at Cinderella's Castle) today. If you haven't seen it... come and visit me and see it.

And there's my introduction into Entertainment for ya. I have work again tomorrow at 7. I am so excited!

We create happiness

"You can dream, create, design and build the most wonderful place in the world... but it requires people to make the dream a reality."
-Walt Disney

Today I was awake at 5am. Yep. 5am. For some of you, that time isn't any big deal at all. However, for me, it was very hard to get myself out of bed, showered and dressed in formal clothes, and on a bus at 6:45. The reason I was up so early was because today was my official Disney Traditions class.

Traditions is basically a class all about the company policies, key themes, and values. The class was about 4-5 hours long. Something that is cool about this class is our trainer gave us a sneak peak of what the backstage of Disney looks like before our first day of work.

Let me tell you, backstage Disney is pretty intense. Everyone always told me it's like it's own world underground. Now i understand what they mean. It really is it's own world. There are cafeterias, costume rooms, break rooms, etc. I even got to walk onto Main Street USA for a little walk around Magic Kingdom.

Traditions ended around 1pm and I am currently back at my room relaxing and enjoying not having anything to do. Tomorrow my first day of Entertainment training starts. Hopefully I will find out which character I am going to be friends with. I am ever so anxious to meet him/her!! Hopefully I'll update you on that tomorrow.

Well, as Mickey would say, "See ya later, folks... Aha!"

Crazy Days

The past couple days have been insane.

I arrived in Orlando on Saturday afternoon around 12 noon and I got to spend a great two days with my family at Shades of Green resort. We went out to eat, and just enjoyed being with each other. Then on Sunday night the College Program (CP) Alumni decided to host a meet and greet for January 16th CP arrivals. So, I decided I'd walk on over to the Polynesian Resort for the shindig.
When I got there I didn't know where I was going and I ran into another CP like myself and we started to talk. He also is going to be a Character Performer. Then we finally found the rest of the soon-to-be CPs. While there I met an adorable pixie-like girl named Jesse. We started talking and she told me she was close friends with Tink, Alice, and Wendy. She said she has been a full time employee of WDW's since August and she gave me so much advice. Also, I met a girl who's been buddies with Buzz Light-Year for four years and ceases to stop loving her job.

One thing that I thought was cool was how these two girls conversed with me. Jesse was telling me that while being a Character Performer I need to remember that even though the job is going to get tiring and obnoxious sometimes, I need to look at this job as a huge blessing because not many people get to do what I am. Then the other girl gave me her number on a card and on it was Romans 12. That was such a huge thing for me to see written on a simple piece of paper. Just knowing that there are other Christians among me makes me feel so at ease and see the Lord's hand at work in my life.

Wow, I already wrote a lot... and that isn't even the close to what has happened. On Monday morning I was awake and ready to go over to registration at 5:45 am. When I arrived at Vista Way, which was where the registration was, I met up with my roommates Alyssa and Maggie and got to meet them for the first time. Let me tell you, I have been extremely blessed with amazing roommates. We all mesh really well together. Actually while I am writing this, we are all hanging out in our living room watching Anastasia. Yes, you can see why we all mesh... :)

Anywho, enough with that tangent. After registering and finding out which apartment we were going to be living in, we were taken to the WDW casting center. There we filled out paperwork. So much paperwork. It took hours... but it seemed like such a smooth and easy process because Disney's corporate people are incredible at what they do. Then after coming back from the casting center, I unpacked all my stuff and got settled into my apartment.

Today was wonderful as well. I just relaxed at the apartment, went running, tanned at the pool, and had a wonderful quiet time. The Lord has been revealing more and more to me of just how faithful He is throughout this whole process. It's as if He is directly saying to me, "I'm here... look!!!" I am constantly reminded of His constant love.

Well, I'd better be going. I have to wake up at 5am tomorrow for Disney Traditions. It's a class we have to take. I am very excited for it.

Until then folks... if you actually read all of this!

My life in a bunch of bags

Well, looks like its that time already. I thought I was going to have all the time in the world to leisurely pack my whole life into a couple bags (more like a whole car full). Time went by so fast since the day I found out I was going to be working at Disney as a Character Performer. I met my wonderful roommate, miss Maggie Montgomery. Christmas came and went. I said my final goodbyes to my best friends back in lovely Maryland. And I got into a crammed car along with my parents and my sister, and we are currently driving down to good old Orlando, Florida right now.

It definitely has not hit me that I am leaving yet. I sit here on my iPhone eating celery while my dad drives, and my mom and sister are asleep and feel like this is just another vacation. Yeah, a four month long vacation. I am so excited to see what this adventure brings! I am so blessed to be going and work for the Disney company.

I am nervous/excited/sad/happy. So many mixed emotions! One thing I do know is that I'm ready for this adventure to begin!
